Book review of VETTING: The Makings of a Veterinarian by Dr. Pete Freyburger
VETTING: The Making of a Veterinarian By: Dr. Pete Freyburger
The book VETTING: The Making of a Veterinarian by Dr. Pete Freyburger is a great book if you
take interest in becoming a veterinarian. As someone who has always dreamed of being a
veterinarian it's inspiring to hear someone story who had the same dream as me and made it come
true. Like me, he has always had a love for animals and as he got older developed a huge passion for
them. His stories are all very interesting although some are sad you will learn at least one thing from
each one.
If I rated it on a 5 point scale I would give it 4.5 stars because overall I love it but there was a few
things I would change For example a few of the stories weren't necessary to becoming a
veterinarian but more just about his life and him growing as a person. Which makes believe it was
mis-titled. I had different expectations when it came to the book. I thought it would be about the
steps of becoming a veterinarian and a glance into the life of a veterinarian. To some degree it did
meet my expectations by providing a glance into the daily life and struggles of a veterinarian.
However, with the little negative that came with the book came so much positive. Emotion and
passion pours through the pages and keeps you hooked waiting to see what comes in the next
chapter. A good example of this is when we was explaining the time where he had to put down
his very own dog. It was not only heartbreaking but inspiring knowing that he was strong enough
to know he had to make the right decision even if he didn't want to. As someone who has
witnessed their own dog be put down I couldn't imagine the pain of having to go through it
yourself and put down your own dog. I would hands down recommend this book to anyone that
has a passion for animals or wants to be a veterinarian. It's truly inspiring and I've learned so much
from it.
